We are excited to announce a fall breeding planned between Beau-D, the only golden to have achieved the titles of CH/OTCH/MH/** to our own precocious girl, Stella. This has been in our thoughts for almost two years, just as Beau-D's career was really taking off and Stella was first stepping into the ring. Watching both of them continue to quickly learn and excel at any task they are given makes our hearts soar with the anticipation of beautiful, intelligent, biddable puppies.
Conformation and Temperament Stella stands 22" tall with an athletic, balanced build. She has a strong, level topline and correct tail carriage. She has a pleasing expression, good ear set, and full dentition with a scissors bite. She boasts a correct, adequate darker gold coat that is a dream when working in the field. During her CCA evaluation, all three judges rated her a 9 or 10 for coat. The only items the evaluators felt could use improvement were a bit more depth of chest and a slightly broader head, which they felt would come with maturation, as she was barely two.
Stella has a true golden temperament, eager to play or work with anyone she meets. She has been exceptionally easy to train and is always equally willing to cuddle on the couch or go to work. I never understood what people meant by a high drive dog having an "off switch" until I met Stella's father, who can go from zero to a hundred in half a second...but with one command can calm it down again and nap on the couch. Stella is exactly like that as well, which makes her a joy to have as a companion at home or in the ring.
Competition Stella began her obedience career on her first birthday when we entered a local trial "just for fun." That day, as she pranced into the ring and turned on the charm for the judge, I knew I was holding the leash of my dream dog. She earned her Novice title in three straight trials. A year later, she earned her Open title in three straight trials along with her RAE in ten straight trials (10 double Q's), bringing home numerous rally high combined awards and nine perfect scores. She also completed her Junior Hunter title and Certificate of Conformation Assessment. At the 2014 Golden Retriever National Specialty, she won first place in the 54-dog Rally Excellent class, the largest in AKC history. This is also where she completed her RAE, JH, CDX, and CCA titles, qualifying her for the GRCA Triathlon Award. She was barely 2 years old at the time. In December, she showed at the Obedience Classic in the Novice class. She was the youngest golden in attendance and qualified in all three runs. At the ripe age of 2 years, this was her third national event. In March 2015, we attended the NOC/RNC where she showed in the RAE class. She earned three scores of 99 and one 89, due to a 10 point handler error. Without that, she would have been in the top 10! Stella is currently training for her UD and WCX. She is also in training for tracking and agility, which she seems to have a natural affinity for both and we hope to begin showing in both venues soon!
Health Clearances Stella has obtained all of her health clearances, which can be viewed at: http://www.offa.org/results.html?all=SR73989008. She has OFA GOOD hips and normal elbows, heart, and eyes (no breeder options). She is genetically clear for prcd-PRA, PRA-1, PRA-2, and is an ichthyosis carrier by parentage.
