This is a litter we were not initially considering, but after receiving some very favorable feedback on Kenzie from the CCA and learning that from a genetic diversity standpoint, she is one of the most diverse dogs we own or co-own, we decided to give this a shot. We feel Rune really compliments both her and her sister Clarity, and each girl will bring slightly different traits (and genetics) to the table. This litter (and the Rune X Clarity one) is something I am a bit selfishly breeding for ME. No, the parents are not champions or highly accomplished performance dogs (yet). But, the top two contributors to the pedigree are my two foundation dogs - Chance and Bailey. My hope is that this combination will produce dogs similar to our First and Fairy Tale litters - like our superstar Stella. And of course we hope to continue to compete with Rune and the girls, but when the girls don't cycle often, we have to take a chance on that dream breeding when we can, which sometimes is before all the big shiny titles have been earned.

We are so excited by how this boy has matured and are thrilled to be including him in our breeding program. He is everything we were hoping for from the combination of Magic and Dream - Magic's drive and enthusiasm for doing all the things, Dream's people focus, and from both, a fabulous off switch, gorgeous balanced structure, and maybe just a tad too much cuddle factor (can there really be too much in a golden, though?).
At home, Rune is a wonderful family pet. He is a true gentleman and never wants to do a thing wrong...he just wants to make his people happy. If you've met him, you've probably found yourself absent-mindedly petting him while he leans so hard on you that if you took a step back he would absolutely fall over. He gets along with everyone he meets and is just a generally happy boy.
In training, Rune is quick and eager to learn new things. He is very confident, but also very soft, which has been something new for me to train, so we've taken some time to come together as a team, but we are getting there! The pandemic put some of his training and showing on hold, but this past year he did manage to fly through his CD and GN titles and will debut in Open obedience this spring. He has started training for Utility, and thinks heeling with mom is the best thing in the entire world. Except maybe running agility with mom. Or ducks. Or swimming. You know, actually, everything is just pretty awesome. He is currently running in AKC and NADAC agility, working toward his Rally championship, open obedience title, and junior hunter title.
Structurally, Rune has a lovely balanced, athletic build. He is 22" tall with a dark gold, slightly wavy coat. He does have a tendency to pull out his tail feathers when girls are in season...so yes, if you see him at a show anytime soon, he might be the golden with the bald butt. We are working on a better way to manage that situation :). The coat he does have is of moderate length, correct, and sheds minimally.
Maywood's Bright Treasure from Sky RA CCA CGC, "Kenzie"
Kenzie is co-owned by us and her sire's owner. She was intended to be a service dog, not a competition or breeding dog. But...situations change, and we have been fortunate enough to be able to borrow her and take her to a few classes and shows...and we fell in love with her. In fact, one of the best parts about deciding to breed her is that she gets to live with us for awhile and while we will not take her to shows while pregnant, we are excited to work on some of the virtual titles as practice and then maybe convince her owner to continue at real shows in the spring :).
Kenzie absolutely loves to learn and work. She is very handler-focused, but the few times we have played with her in field work or agility, she has had zero issue working away from us to go pick up a duck or take a jump. One of our favorite memories of her from a puppy was when she decided duck-gility should be an event and ran through all the tunnels with a duck in her mouth! At home, she easily settles and hangs out with her owner, though she'd prefer to be on the couch with you than on the floor!
She is approximately 22" tall with a straight dark golden coat that repels everything and sheds minimally.
