A year ago, we welcomed a girl from Eta D'Oro Golden Retrievers into our home to be bred to our boy, Rune (Story's dad). This girl was simply phenomenal and we have been blown away by the versatility in the puppies that combination produced. Fast forward to the 2024 National Specialty where we had the pleasure of showing the two 12-year old grandmothers from both sides of that pedigree alongside one another, who also decided during the Hero Parade they were long lost best friends. It was clear that Eta D'Oro's ideas of health, longevity, and temperament truly aligned with ours. Sadly, these days it isn't often that you can say a puppy's grandmothers are still around and able to show at 12+ years old.
So, when it was time to choose a match for Story, we looked back to Eta D'Oro's lines since they have already proven to blend nicely with ours. These puppies should be wonderful examples of the classic golden retriever in both looks and temperament. We are expecting them to be smart, biddable, and have drive, but with an off switch appropriate for active families, therapy work, and all types of performance competition.

Gordie is a good size boy, about 23 1/2" and 78-80 pounds. He is well balanced with nice front and rear angulation, has an outstanding front assembly and great rib spring, is clean coming and going, has lovely neck into shoulders, and good leg under him. Gordie's side gait is easy and fluid. His pigment is jet black at over 9 years old, and, while he started getting sugar on his face around 4 ½, he is as fit and ready for the show ring as he was many years ago. Gordie is an old style golden retriever, with correct coat of a medium gold with light furnishings. Nothing about Gordie is overdone; this is a dog that could be working outside all day and not need more than a bath to get ring ready. Many of Gordie's CH and GCH points have been breeder/owner handled and under GRCA breeder judges, and at specialties and supported entries. He finished his CH with three majors. At age 9, he took a large entry all-breed BOB in June 2024 for a 5 point GCH major over highly ranked specials.
Gordie got his RN and RA with no NQs, and with very little training. He has an on/off switch, and has a good bit of goofball in him - he is just a very happy dog who loves it when he is given a job to do. Gordie finished 2019 as the #7 NOHS golden after spending some months at #5, in limited showing throughout the year. Showing mostly in Veterans classes now, he placed second at the 2023 GRCA National in his Veterans and Veterans Sweeps classes, and placed 4th in his Veterans class at the 2024 National. He has taken a Best of Opposite sex and Selects out of veterans classes, and of course that BOB in June 2024. The boy is maturing very gracefully!

Story was our pick girl from our Rune X Kenzie litter in 2022 and has matured into such a fun partner. She loves to snuggle and is probably the most polite and calm dog we have in the house, but as soon as you give any clue something FUN might happen, she's also ready to go - sometimes bouncing above your head just like her dad. And with an athletic, petite frame at just under 50 lbs, she plays those games FAST. Story has excelled in the few shows she's been to for obedience and rally and just recently began the journey to her Rally Championship, kicking it off with her first High Combined award. While we'd initially planned to pursue that RACH, a CDX and JH this spring, she delayed coming into season just enough that it made more sense to take a puppy break now rather than next fall. Story's parents are still actively competing as well and she has several siblings excelling in agility, dock diving, rally, obedience, and fieldwork.
Story also has the perfect temperament for therapy work and easily passed the mock exam at the end of one of her classes (I've chosen not to pursue certification due to my own schedule for now). In short, she is everything I was hoping for from the combination of her parents and she might be on a break right now, but I'm still expecting great things to come!
